Riding flatland is hard, if there is one thing that I find almost more challenging then riding flatland or competing, it's organising a competition. As you may have noticed I didn't put together a @realcityspin this year, you may have also noticed that I've had my best year competing so far. Those two things are tightly connected, for 3 years I was killing myself, sacrificing my riding and health to put together an event that brought Flatland riders and people together in Flatland in Montreal like had never been done before.
I have to say it was infinitely more rewarding then any other thing I've done in my life, I can still picture sharing moments with riders from 7 or 8 countries on this tiny island in the middle of a lake, surrounded by forest in the Canadian wilderness, those were some of my favourite moments of the event, when it was over and the riders and I went and explored the lands that had once belonged to my Dad.
Fun indeed and very stimulating, though it was draining me and left me no energy to ride for fun, progress, compete and enjoy BMX as I would usually do.
I think now would be the time to thank all of these contest organisers who put in a ton of work and bring the riders together in our sport, give prize money to those deserving and support the up and comers, I know it ain't easy... They are the ones that tighten the links that hold us together, get us to get off our asses and computers and give us a platform to challenge ourselves every year. If there is an event in your area or just a few hours away, GO SUPPORT IT, DON‘T LET THESE GUYS DOWN!!!!! So once again from the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO! .
