Happy 15th anniversary to Final Destination 2, the sequel to the hit 2000 horror film and second entry of the popular film series about survivors of a deadly accident being targeted by death. Here we follow a young woman named Kimberly (A.J. Cook) whose premonition of a deadly highway accident saves her and a number of people. Of course this mirrors the same thing that happened to Alex Browning and the survivors of Flight 180 from the first film before they all met their grisly demise through a series of freak accidents and she finds herself part of Death's design. The one person she goes to is Clear Rivers (the last living Flight 180 survivor), who must help the small group of people beat Death and change fate. While I did admire the first for it's tension and intriguing ideas, this is more of dumbed down, formulaic and preposterous genre horror film that I still enjoyed on account of it's creative, rube goldberg like deaths that play for dark humor, which became a standard in the series for better or worse, and still plays on our fears of something mundane or exciting can have terrifying results. Call me a sick fuck, but I laughed my ass off at these deaths based on the sheer ridiculousness behind them. It's gory, over the top, and entertaining and I still say this is the best of the Final Destination sequels along with the fifth film.
