What if you just did it anyway?

So many people ask me how I get motivated to write, or go to the gym, or do my work even though I really don't have anyone to answer to but myself.

And the answer is, I'm not always motivated.

I don't always want to.

It's not always convenient or exciting.

But I do it anyway.

Honestly, I don't even allow myself another option anymore.

Writing everyday is not an option. It happens everyday, no matter what. No matter where I am.

My job gets done everyday. It's not "work", it's my life. It's just become part of what makes me tick. It's natural and I have learned to let it flow no matter what.

And working out every day is a non negotiable these days too. Even when I'm on vacation, am tired, and feel yucky. I hit the gym. My body craves it and I'll be damned if I'm going to loose the gainz I've worked so hard to get.

Why do I do this things no matter what? Even when I dont really want to?

Well there are 2 main reasons actually...
1- Because I am ruthlessly committed to myself and the life I'm building.
2-I legitimately FEEL BETTER when I do these things. So why wouldn't I do them?

It's a predictable result guys.
You know what happens if you DONT do them
And you know what happens if you DO do them.... Soooooo why wouldn't you choose to do the things anyway? When you already know that it's going to have a positive reaction in your world?

Think about that next time you're about to make an excuse for the things that you KNOW set you up for success...and do it anyway. #noexcuses

Well today I competed in my first ocb pro show and was facing some fantastic competition and I placed 3rd.
The competitor is me was a little disappointed in how I placed but there are some many positives I’m taking from today.
So thankful for the help from my coach @kellyschmidt1 & @lifefuzionfitness for getting me ready for the show.
Now it’s offseason time and time to improve and enjoy life.

Let's face it, most of us barely get what is considered a good night's sleep ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A lot of things can contribute to it

Work and gym schedules, stress from day to day life, or you just can't go to sleep early ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stress is a big one for me, and now that I've learned a little more about the body, it made me realize something else it's doing to me

When your body's stress levels are elevated, it also elevates your cortisol level

I'm glad you asked! When Cortisol gets elevated, it signals to your body to hold onto and store fat, usually around the midsection 😢😭

First lift since having bronchitis earlier this week, and boy, did it feel good!
.
Today I focused on legs and going through the “squat” range of motion without actually doing Barbell Squats.
.
I love, love, love working my lower body for my riding. And while a lot of people think that riders need to have strong legs to “grip” their horse, that’s not exactly true.
.
You see, as a rider, I need to have contact with the barrel of my horse. Meaning I want to feel everything from my seat down, have full control of my legs to the front and back, stay soft, and stay connected to my upper body and trunk. .

It’s not just gripping, it’s a constant feel of my horse without tensing up. In horses, when you tense up and lock up muscles, that’s generally when you get tossed because you can’t “flow” with your horse when you ride.
.
I really notice this when I ride my mare versus my gelding. Whoopie, my mare, needs much more contact from my legs in order to have a successful ride. She needs that contact but if I lock up she’ll for sure toss me when she makes a quick movement.
.
So when I train in the gym, I train the full range of motion, vary between strength, hypertrophy and endurance rep ranges, and try not to do the same exact thing.
This was today’s workout:
Set of 15, 10, 10, 10, 15 Lunges (sets of 15 at body weight, sets of 10 with 45 Barbell)
5x5 TRX Pistol Squat with Ankle Mobility between sets
100 reps Leg Press
5x10 Hyperextensions
.
It doesn’t need to be complex. But adding variation can sure benefit your riding!!

Why do I workout? How do I stay motivated? Who am I doing it for? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I workout because I remember how I felt about myself before I started this journey. I never liked taking my shirt off, I hated tank tops, I just didn’t like what I saw in the mirror, period. This wasn’t because I was “overweight” , but because I was “underweight”. In high school I always felt like the skinny one. P.E was torture for me because all the other guys were bigger and stronger. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Believe it or not, but the reason why I am still motivated to do all of this is because of you guys! My clients, my friends, my family, and @1stphorm . Since coming back from #SummerSmash2018 , every time I want to cheat on a rep, I think of @andyfrisella @big_ty_russ @discobrown @jenna_fail @rachelnicolefit @laurajulaine @stormi_knight3 , and if I ever want to get to be at their level and achieve what they have, I need to push through every. single. rep. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This last answer is easy. I am doing all of this for me. For my health. For my heart. And for my mind. I’ve honestly never felt better about myself. Yeah there are some days I stand in the mirror and pick out things I don’t like about me, but there are more days where I tell myself, “nice progress! keep going“ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Instead of using a large plate, use a small plate to eat from. This will help with overeating and can trick your brain into thinking you are eating a full meal.

Remember, losing weight or any goal you have takes time. You have to be consistent with good eating habits and healthy eating in order to see results. The exercise is not the hard part but controlling what is on your plate is the hardest.

I can never get an outdoor workout in without these two around 😂. I was cleaning the house and I just didn’t have time to get to the gym, BUT I made time to get a workout in.

It was good to get outdoors! I did this circuit 5x without stopping and I was sweatingggg so bad! I also did an ab circuit!

You can always make time to get in a workout no matter how busy you are! I did this in about 20 minutes and was sweating my ass off! #sweattillyoushine

💥SHOULDER DAY FINISHER💥

I completed an intense shoulder day, heavy with low reps but on my last exercise, I like to just completely exhaust the muscle of glycogen. If you have one of these fabulous machines, complete 8-10/side and then finish with a burn out of both at the same time till you can't lift anymore. This gal wasn't feeling 100% during this workout, but I still got it done! *Can be duplicated with dumbbells but be mindful to focus on only using delts! No legs or swinging involved* -

Swipe ⬅️ If you want to see some progress on your forearms here is an exercise I’ve grown to love. It’s definitely a love hate relationship. Squeeze at the top of the rep and then after ten reps you start RAPID FIRE AMRAP (As many reps as possible!) At the end you’ll wanna throw up. Don’t😂 If you don’t feel the burn something is seriously wrong with you😂 Nobody makes me sweat my own sweat!🤪

Today I completed my first @spartan trifecta and I'm still learning. I have improved a ton, but still have far to go. First race of the season in January I was 82 out of 222 overall, today I was 62 out of 465. The climb is way more exciting!

So I've decided throw a little Crossfit Competition Shindig. It's only 5 years in the making. Taking it to the Singer Island Beachfront Park and closing Ocean Dr. down... following with a full blown After Party Block Party... One day event. Same sex Teams of 2. 200 Teams, 1000+ spectators.

My 1st Pham... let's make this an event to get everyone together again for a Phamily weekend. Having some of the HQ Pham coming down to compete... Cavan is likely going to be here as well, hopefully with some more of the @willybcrossfit Squad. I know my man @mr_kurtisgreene is making the trip as well. And if we get a big enough confirmation of 1st Pham attending, we can close a gym down and do a Phamily Workout together.

So keep an eye out for hotel deals that will be released soon. November is a nice time to get a little more Summer in before the Holidays.

Let’s talk footwear.

I wear three different styles everyday. Cross training shoes for the gym, combat boots for rucking, and heavy work boots for 10 hours a day.

These @nikesfb Gen-2’s are my favorite! I’ve put them through 76 miles since I bought them (20 days) and they have been foot savers during my long training mornings.

Finding the proper shoes/boots should be taken serious. There are multiple reasons why companies make specific footwear for specific activities.

An example for me. I ruck on paved roads, with the occasional dirt, so what do I need? Versatility. Soft enough for hard surfaces, hard enough not to feel every pebble I step on. Extremely lightweight, with enough flexibility to allow range of motion.

Choose your footwear wisely if you intend to wear them very often. It’s an important investment to the part of your body that holds your weight daily!

Rains and flooding in the James River has cancelled the swim portion of the Triathlon that I was planning to do tomorrow....

So I learned what a Duathlon is today which is what I will be doing instead. So if you didn’t know what that was like I didn’t, basically they sub out the swim for a short run. So tomorrow will be 0.9 mile run / 18.9 mile bike / 3.1 mile run

That just means I find another Tri...soon. I’m still looking forward to the event and it will be my first multi sport event

SATURDAY CHECK INS 😦🖤 • (Please keep your negative comments to yourself as this was not easy to post and share.) •

Believe me when I say that I feel the need to pinch myself every morning I look into the mirror because I still cannot believe I am looking at myself. •

This all started with inspiration & consistently making one good decision at a time. Now I am 4 weeks out of my first women’s figure show. The pictures to the right were taken on May 19th, I clearly didn’t know what I was doing as far as posing went but I did know one thing for sure & that was that I was committed to myself in pursuing this goal that was once a dream. I use to be so worried about looking stupid or being made fun of. But no matter what it is that you want to pursue you can take the pressure off of having to be great to start because everybody starts somewhere. The pictures to the left were taken today. Just a few weeks ago I was doubting myself hard and now I am so happy I kept pushing forward &ND that I went over proper posing with my coach, who honestly I can’t thank enough because my posing before was terrible 😂. 🙏🏼

I am not always motivated. But I know where I want to be ✨
