Doug Munro is a critically acclaimed New York-based jazz guitarist. Since 1987 he has released 18 albums as a leader and has appeared on over 50 recordings as a sideman, producer, and arranger, working with artists like Dr. John, Michael Brecker, and Dr. Lonnie Smith. He has over 75 published compositions and over 300 recorded arrangements to his credit.
Munro created and directed the Jazz Studies Program at The Conservatory of Music at Purchase College in 1993 and now teaches there as Director Emeritus. Having worked with a veritable Who’s Who of Jazz and Soul artists, Doug has garnered high praise from both his fellow artists and the press. Dr. Lonnie Smith said of him, “Doug Munro…well he can flat out play!” He has been at the Litchfield Jazz Camp as a teaching artist since 2009.
Shortly after being accepted to New Haven's Educational Center for the Arts (ECA), Zwelakhe-Duma F. Bell le Pere began studying double bass under the direction of Jeff Fuller. Zwelakhe-Duma prepared as a student at ECA and Litchfield Jazz Camp was accepted to New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. Completing his Bachelor (’11) & Master of Music (’13) in Jazz Studies, he studied acoustic bass with Cecil McBee & Don Palma, as well as studying with non - bassists Jason Moran, John McNeil, & Jerry Bergonzi. Zwelakhe- Duma Bell le Pere was a recipient of the 2011 Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead Fellowship and is also a teaching artist for the Litchfield Jazz Camp& New England Conservatory Jazz Lab. He currently resides in New York City, New York and continues his private study with legendary bassist Ron Carter.
