Yesterday we left our old life behind. I have learned so much in the past year of being stationary, feet on the ground, patiently waiting to leave again. I will be forever grateful for that time. The wind began blowing last week - a strong North Wind that danced at our feet, urging us onwards. It was finally time. So we left Colorado, with only $2000 in our pockets, we left our old lives behind. Ready to start again, to run breathless and barefoot across these desert lands. We landed in Utah. The wind followed us, haunting our little yellow van in the nighttime, whipping my hair into golden strands that caught in my mouth, making me laugh during the day. And what a wonderful day:
we at oatmeal in the car park, laughed and made up song lyrics, slept the afternoon hours away with sandy toes, in our messy nest of a bed, and spent the sunset watching the crows flying over Delicate Arch. You told me not to worry, knotted your fingers in my own, asked me about every small flower, and pointed out every animal. I haven’t smiled so much in months! Let this be our little forever you, me, and this wild world. We are home.
