Epic shot and notes by @nzwineaddict. Thanks Dan, looks like it went down pretty well!! #Repost @nzwineaddict with @get_repost
I’m not a big Rosé fan, fact.
So when I got a DM telling me to try this, I was nervous.
Then when I read it was a Pinot Noir Rosé, made in a Mediterranean style, I was intrigued.
Two Rivers of Marlborough.
Isle of Beauty.
Nose- concentrated mandarin, orange blossom and ripe wild strawberry jostle with alcohol power and fresh thyme and herbs.
Palate- beautiful early palate. Fresh, focused and succulent with ripe fruits that lift the dry nature with fruit sweetness.
Citrus, tangerine and grapefruit initially, with a light coating of juicy strawberry that moves to ripe peach depth and finally, when the long, long finish fades, ripe red skinned apple and pip.
Acidity is fine and almost a bystander. It becomes more evident to the rear of the palate as fruits fade and a touch of salinity emerges.
This is wonderfully fresh and clean, with a precise flow that treads a perfectly balanced line. Never dropping off into savoury and bitter, yet able to float effortlessly in and out of fruit sweetness and sharpness and yet still remains dry.
There’s a lovely level of detail here but still flexible enough in style and substance to keep you refilling the glass that just won’t stay topped up.
