"My name is Michelle Dang and I live and work on Jaggera and Turrabl land (Brisbane). I have a deep commitment to social justice, especially working with folks responding to trauma and violence.
As a counsellor, supervisor and consultant, my practice is informed by narrative therapy, anti-oppressive, de-colonising and intersectional feminist frameworks. My approach is collaborative, non-judgemental and non-pathologising. I hold space for deep listening, with attention to context, relationships, and personal, family and cultural practices. I am interested in discovering what sustains us through hardships and developing immediate and ongoing strategies for support and healing.
I work with young people and adults and provide individual and group counselling, consultations and/or external supervision in the areas of: * responding to the effects of violence and injustice (sexual violence, domestic violence, child sexual abuse and structural violence)
* standing alongside those who wish to address their actions that cause harm to others
* community responses/accountability (supporting friends, family and community members to respond to trauma and violence)
* navigating ethical dilemmas and organisational issues for social workers, counsellors, and community workers
