❤️ I LOVE band Pull Aparts. I do them 5-7x a week as part of a warmup, in an actual workout, or just randomly at home. Here are a couple reasons as to why they so great:
.
🤗 The exercises helps to keep your shoulders healthy because it strengthens your rear delts and upper back. BUT this won’t do much good if your form on exercises like pushups, presses, and rows is really bad. Nothing will stop your shoulders from hurting in this situation.
.
🔕 A HUGE reason for achy shoulders (besides poor form) is we do a much more pushing (weight away from your body) than pulling (weight towards your body) exercises. ESPECIALLY If you take lots of group exercises classes you need to put these into your life. It’s really hard in a typical studio group exercise class to do the amount of pulling exercises you need. I taught group exercise many years ago. I know it becomes a pushing exercise festival.

🐘 Being pain free is great but what about looking better? There is an aesthetic benefit to this exercise because it improves your posture. Who doesn’t want a better posture? By strengthening your upper back, your chest will stick out more on you’ll hunch over less.

A month ago I mentioned an experiment I was doing with increasing my salt intake (using Redmound Real Salt) Well, I’m going through a ton of health issues so I’m a poor subject at the moment BUT @lindscorbb has been putting 1/2 Tsp of salt on a spoon, putting it in her mouth, and drinking it for the past several weeks. She says her speed, endurance, strength, and energy have never been better.

Just finished a 3 miles walk/ jog, recently moved to a new neighborhood and have been exploring/ getting lost and ending up jogging on a busy highway 😑 @musclefeast is my go to whey protein powder!!! I have it in vanilla and chocolate. I love the flavor it’s from grass fed cows and is probably one of the cheapest I have yet to find out there!!! I like to add #collagen to my smoothies and protein shakes and even my coffee and tea! @greatlakesgelatin is one of my favorite brands for it, I have tried others but some really don’t mix well. It’s high in protein and is great for your hair, skin, nails, joint pain, it can help improve your sleep, and it also can help with weight loss! I mixed them with 12 oz of 1% milk and also did t use a full serving of protein powder... all together it turned out to be 41P, 20C, 3F and tastes delicious!

#Throwback to last weekend when I was swimming laps in the pool and relaxing in the sun. I have always been one of those people who would work their ass off (or more like try and add some booty 🍑😝) before a holiday to get that perfect bikini body, but then not do any exercise when I am on my holiday. Hence I would eat lots of yummy food, relax by the pool and come back a big blob 😑 So this was my first trip where I told myself enough is enough! I promised to be active and get my heart rate up everyday. It doesn't mean you have to go to the gym for hours everyday but make your exercises fun and incorporate them into your travel plans. Go for long walks or a jog on the beach, swim laps in the pool and walk everywhere you can (it's the best way to explore a new city). But most importantly have FUN!! 🤗

I decided to end my chest day yesterday with another round of weighted pushups. This time around I did sets of both 45lbs and 90lbs. This video highlights the importance of asking for help when you need it.

As requested by @mantisbirostris, I did a video (second video in this post) showing how I load the weight onto my back for 45lbs and my dismount of the weight. I attempted to do the same thing for 90lbs, but upon attempting it, did not feel safe in continuing to try and therefore I asked someone nearby to assist me.
.
My point in this rambling is that if something doesn’t feel safe, or right or is causing you pain, then don’t do it. Ask for help, try a different exercise etc. because it’s not worth injuring yourself.
