I sat down for a minute and had a chat with my old friend mat
We grew up in a small town where only one family was black
And that ain't make me racist,
I grew up idolizing a black man playing second base but my dad slapped my cap off when he saw it was flat.
This old angry white man got michael eric dyson all mad.
He said son we ain't niggers, you can take that hat back.
I cried for a minute, i didn't understand why he said that.
Thats the reality of the situation.
Our history embraced race seperation.
They tought it to their child,
passed it down to the next generation.
But I killed it, I studied all that gang shit.
The families dismembered at the heart of the crack war.
CIA selling cocaine to the streets so they can kill more
Young black men are dying around the block.
I grew up wanting to be another white cop,
but i saw the toxic brotherhood.
The death that a mother could
Not return her son to live the life he should
Have had, this ignorance is bad
For our people,
We should bend over and embrace
Fuck the world and the hate
If mars is the mission then we better replace
This mantra that america is really really great.
Let the world be fantastic
Cure scziophrenia and the mentally spastic
End the drug war and fight against plastic
Preach to the world about love without being bombastic
I forgive you right now
I'm out hear at night, just speaking outloud.
I hope you can see the son you created
Is a better man than the previous, ignorant generation
