🧗🏽♀️ Day of with @cyogalife Standing 🧗🏽♀️
On day 8 we did an , Fallen Angel, that resembles today’s body position, only ‘flipped’ and adding the bind around the bent leg. You can also look at it like a standing version of Marichy C. The balancing element makes the twist much more difficult than when sitting down so, one tip that helps me get into it is: as you stand up and shift the weight onto one leg, bending the other, rest that foot ONTO the thigh, so you’ll have more stability (the toes pressing against the top of the thigh will act as an anchoring point) therefore, passing the arm over the opposite leg, will be easier. Internally rotate that shoulder so the palm ends facing up, wrap around the knee and reach the other arm behind to lace the fingers (or opposite wrist... tough!). Once again, shifting the gaze up and back is just as challenging, if not more, than getting into the pose itself so, turn the neck and ‘jump’ your eyes gradually, always making sure the base leg is strong and steady. While you move the gaze, or once you get to the final pose, ‘slide out’ the foot so it rests on the inner thigh, kneecap aligning with its hip (watch pic). Careful not to tip much the knee inwards, it’ll likely make you fall. When you’re sitting getting into Marichy C, it doesn’t matter how much you wobble, here, it’s a whole other story... Also, the more you warm up your twists (I particularly like arm balances like Side Crow or Fallen Angel, that’s why I included it in the first half of the challenge), the easier to bind and complete this version so, let’s twist away and sharpen those balancing skills!!! A more accessible alternative coming up tomorrow, stay tuned!
