A new article “ANANTASANA AND THE SUSTAINER OF LIFE”
has just been published on Medium. .
. "In Hindu mythology, Ananta, also known as Shesha, Sheshanaga or Adishesha, is the name given to the serpent that upholds the universe. Called Vasuki, it was his body that was used as a rope in the Bhagavata Purana’s legend of the churning of the ocean of milk. He is also known as the support for Lord Vishnu while he rests in between incarnations, acting as Vishnu’s couch.
Vishnu is one of the trinity deities, one of three forms of God. Brahma being the Creator, Shiva the Destroyer, and Vishnu the Preserver. Although separated into three, they are also recognized as just one. Vishnu is known to sustain, organize, preserve and maintain the world and life in general while the other two either begin or end it. Vishnu is in the middle of the two stages of life and navigates us from one point to another.
This responsibility of Vishnu’s became of interest to me in Anantasana, as I was lying on my side being still, trying not to topple backward or forward and slipping into a very peaceful state."
