The mermaid row: a combination of back extensions and rows. Aim to make the initial pull from the glutes and hamstrings, then drive the elbows back to move the bar into the lower abdominal area. This exercise will target a lot of muscles at one time, including: mid to lower back, lats, biceps, glutes, and hamstrings ALL. IN. ONE. Try switching up your grip and the attachment used to add variety to the movement. (And check out that new MAG grip attachment he uses here! 😉)

Upright row - (I had to mess around with hand placements. I found that the closer I had my grip, the better).
Arnold Press - this was my first set, felt easier than usual so I went up. I always start off a little lighter on shoulder exercises.
Kneeling Facepulls - I really like doing these kneeling. I can go up in weight because I’m way more controlled with my core. Remember keep those elbows high 💪🏼.

Since I don’t have the heavier “x-wife” or “step child” #bodytempering rollers I tried putting something together that would suffice. I used a @roguefitness sled bar and collars to hold 18 5lb plates, with the bar it’s about 98lbs. I was just rolling my quads and letting it rest on my stomach since I didn’t have anyone to place it on my posterior. •
If I were to put it on my back, I’d probably add 2-3 2.5 plates in the middle to provide a groove for my spine. •
The cool thing about this is that you can manipulate the amount of weight pretty easily. And it may be helpful in determining which actual bodytempering device best fits your needs by mimicking their relative weights. •
I plan on getting a larger roller soon from @bighesstrength and hopefully some more instruction from him and @thompsonbowtie soon. •

The bench press is a compound movement performed to strengthen the chest. Adding a pause to your reps will reduce the chance of “bouncing” out of the bottom; further increasing strength, power, and size.

Before I completely started taking lifting seriously I hated leg day. I was one of those guys who would show up to the gym on leg day and be like “ehhh, maybe another day!"😂😂. •
Tonight I got 315 on squats. It was a goal that I set for myself before I started the grind. I had to work extra hard towards this goal because all the leg days I have skipped snuck up on me 🤦‍♂️😂

Nothing like a good workout to kick off the week right! 💪🏻 I had an emotionally draining week last week, so it was really refreshing to hit the gym today. I really do feel much better now! 😅

Swipe left for a pic where I felt like maybe I can almost see my serratus anterior muscles coming in! 😳 Like I’ve never felt really good about the way I look before, and I’ve felt a lot of shame because I saw myself as “fat”. It may be mostly in my head at this point, but it’s mind-blowing for me to see progress in my abs and core!! 🤯

As always, huge shoutout to @sam_wells0 for the coaching. I’m loving the progress I’m seeing. 👀
