(thank you to @marcinevin for this gem!)
Spring is right around the corner, which means the weather will soon be getting warmer. While I can drink hot coffee any time of year, I do love me a cold, refreshing drink during the spring and summer months.
If that you too, just be aware of the fancy and fruity iced teas that masquerade as health but are often nothing more than a sneaky source of liquid calories.. #
Take for example this Shaken Berry Sangria iced herbal tea from Starbucks. You might assume berry sangria is simply a flavor of the herbal tea and therefore would be calorie free. And just look at the fruit floating in it. It must be healthy! But as you can see, that's hardly the case. If you check Starbucks’ website, you will see that the tea has apple juice and sangria syrup added to it, hence the calories and carbs.
This drink is just one example of many iced tea type beverages that are nothing but calorie and sugar bombs.
If you’re going to order any iced tea, at least from Starbucks, make sure you asked for it UNSWEETENED, as all of their teas will have some sort of syrup mixed in. The unsweetened passion iced is always my go to, then I had my own calorie free sweetener.
Yes, I chose to highlight a Venti, but even a Tall and Grande have 120 calories, 29 carbs, 26 grams of sugar and 150 calories, 37 carbs and 33 grams of sugar respectively. So no matter how you order, it’s still a pretty big calorie hit. Choose your drinks wisely, friends!
