HE WAS UNARMED:
This is Stephon Clark. Shot at 20 times by Sacramento’s Police. All he had was his cellphone.
Don’t talk to me about his past life. Don’t debate with me on whatever illegal action he was engaging in. Talk back to me about WHY HE IS DEAD!
The officer only took 7 SECONDS after making contact with him to call his cellphone a gun.
After firing 20 shots, officers can be heard discussing how to make sure he’s not a “threat,” before detaining him. They couldn’t find a gun, because there was no gun. The officer goes on to say “it looked like one from our perspective.” He wasn’t given any first aid.
If you don’t see a problem, that’s your problem. One more second is all it took.
This is why Stephon’s past wouldn’t have mattered:
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” His new will never come now. #stephonclark
Backstory: police were trying to catch someone breaking into vehicles in the area. Stephon was chased into his grandmother’s backyard. Stephon hasn’t been identified as the suspect, but he could’ve been. And if he was... we’re subjected to a fair trial, not death.
