This one is a double whammy. In June I submitted an abstract for consideration for the IPWEA 2018 NSW State Conference. Around the same time, the same project was nominated for the Engineering Excellence Awards. I was over the moon when my paper was selected to be presented, and again when we made it through to the next round of assessment for our award nomination. The Darling Street to Swan Street Sewer Rising Main Project was one of the biggest projects I had worked on and the biggest project I had ever been given the role of Project Manager for. My presentation was last Thursday and I was honoured to be presenting alongside directors and senior managers of impressive councils with very impressive projects. I was blown away when we were awarded a Highly Commended for the project and very proud to go onstage to collect the award.
The Darling Street Project was one of the hardest projects I’ve ever been involved in, and I hope to never be involved in anything like it again, but I’m relieved the Project finally received recognition, and I’m honoured I was there to see it happen.
