This is last summer. This is one of the first big hikes I did alone. I parked at the wrong parking lot so I think it was almost 12 miles in total. I started late it was so hot and the hike was on a 4x4 road with little tree cover. The road followed close to Crystal River which was the clearest water I’ve ever seen. Sometimes you were high above the river and could see right down to the bottom of the river. I saw what remained of an avalanche. And just passed the mill was the town of Crystal it was still partially inhabited. It made me dream about a life like that for a long time. It was a tough hike and I was outta shape (hey still am lol) but it was awesome how encouraging the people riding up in off road vehicles were. They stopped to make sure I had enough water. A little grandma gave me a thumbs up with a big ol smile. A husband and wife slowed to say “you go girl”. I’m doing things that scare the shit out of me on a pretty regular basis now and it’s pretty empowering and rewarding. I get to see things in person that some people only see on IG and my two little chubby legs took me there!
