Do you know what is the biggest sandisland in the world?
Here it is: Fraser Island 🏝
You reach Fraser Island by ferry from Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach.
There are resorts where you can stay overnight. Either you book a guided tour or you rent a 4WD- car to explore the island by yourself.
Must sees are the Lake Mackenzie with its crystal clear water. You are not allowed to bring food down to the lake or put sunscreen on before. So that the lake stays clean.
You can do a rainforest walk along the Eli Creek which water is so clear that you don't even see that it's a creek.
Along the 75-Mile Beach you will see how the Eli Creek leads into the ocean. There you can try river tubing. Further attractions along the beach are the Pineacles, an interesting stone formation, the shipwreck, Indian Heads a ledge from where you have a nice view over the beach and you may spot turtles, sharks and rays in the ocean and the Champagne Pools which are called like this because the waves let the water in the natural pool sparkle. 🛩If you want to have an overview over the island and see the lakes, the rainforest and the coast from above there is offered a short flight over about 15 minutes over the island. ❌There are wild dingos on the island. Don't see them like a normal dog or a pet. They attack people when they have food. Especially don't leave your children alone. If you see a dingo don't run away. Stay straight and shout at them in order to scare them of. 🐕
In addition it's not recommended swimming in the ocean because there are sharks near the coast. Go swimming in the Champagne Pools or in one of the many lakes. 🦈
