I arrived in Kuala Lumpur knowing absolutely nothing about the city, except that I wanted to see these towers at night. On my way to the destination, I discovered a rooftop bar overlooking the towers, stopped in to catch the view, and met a man from India who was living in the UK and visiting KL for work for 2 weeks. While looking at the incredible city skyline, we talked in depth about his life...why he initially stayed married even though he knew wife was cheating on him, his eventual divorce, how Indian culture views marriage and divorce, how he often thought of suicide after his wife left him, and how travel opens us up to quickly getting to know strangers in ways we would never experience at home. He had originally planned on going to a club that night, but instead, walked me to the towers to keep me safe at night, took this photo for me, and walked me back to my hotel to make sure I got home okay. The world is a kind place if you’re open to it. For me, travel is about the connections with people, more than the places I see.
But if you’re curious...I was surprisingly impressed by the KL skyline and the many many incredible rooftops with infinity pools! ✨
