It seems that I have fully acclimatized to Swazi weather. Though it’s in the upper 60’s (Fahrenheit) today, I’m wearing a heavy sweater, boots, and knit beanie. Basically I’m dressed for Lake Tahoe in November.

Somewhere in early October, @wvaneaton and I put ~35 red pins in a giant map of the Tahoe basin to mark all the peaks and lines we wanted to explore this winter. By the end of the winter, we had hoped to turn all off them from red “to-dos” into green “completes”. That was all assuming we’d have snowfall like last year’s spoil of riches. Mother Nature assumed otherwise.
Last year’s bottomless chutes of pow are this year’s rocky death traps, and most of those red pins have stayed red. But this late push of storms has helped us finally start to make incremental progress. However, with 80% is the pins left and only a couple weeks before I leave Tahoe, I think we’re gonna optimize for bluebird powder summits over objective hunting.
Thanks @hseebs and @wvaneaton for another epic day pretending we were airplanes flying about the clouds on Tallac....and also for letting me use my core competency of playing “mine sweeper” to mark all the rocks in the tasty chutes on the way down #TahoeTillYaKnow#rockhunters sound on!
