1899. “At the time it didn’t really register like, ‘You should be dead.’” On January 15, 2014, Josh Bright set out on his bike to head to Bible study. A short ride away, he was peddling across an intersection when he suddenly became struck by a car going 40 mph. Josh shattered the windshield with his body, dented the hood of the car with his head, and flew 30 feet across the asphalt, badly scraping his face and wrist. When he woke up in the hospital, laying in the bed with his face in a wrap, he heard the doctor tell him that he technically shouldn’t have survived. On that day, Josh decided to focus on everything he had to be thankful for in life and created the motto, “Choose joy above all else.” As a kid, he grew up in Indonesia and moved to the U.S. when he was 9 years old. Once here, he learned English by watching “SpongeBob” and “Dora the Explorer” and perfected the American accent through playing music and singing. Since then, he’s continued to play instruments of all kinds (guitar, piano, drums, bass, upright bass) and now chooses joy by singing at churches like @marinerschurch where his audiences range from 300 to 3,000 sometimes 15 people! He loves performing and plans to continue enjoying life through song, appreciating the fact that every day is a gift along the way! Such a pleasure to meet you, @joshbrightt! #10kfriends #orangecounty #fountainvalley #biblestudy #biking #accident #choosejoy #indonesia #spongebob #singing #music #meetingpeople
How we met: Josh came across my project via his friend, @jbachman (#1844), and then DM’ed me to meet!
