The URBAN bowl… chock full of yummy seaweeds + veggies to fuel my muscles after the Body Pump class I took with my BFF & his wife. I was soo hungry after class but didn’t eat much pre-workout because I just wasn’t hungry (note to self, always pack protein bar whenever traveling!). By the time we got to my fave fast casual cafe, I ordered a green juice, salad and cookie to share with the table.
About 6 hours later, my belly was feeling a bit funky. But since we were going for sushi I thought it wasn’t anything that some fermented foods like miso soup + pickled ginger couldn’t fix.
I started to get a bit sweaty and nauseated so we wrapped up dinner and high tailed it to the health food store: digestive enzymes, probiotics, food borne illness homeopathic med + out of the tap kombucha & peppermint tea were on the list for the remedy. We came home, binge-watched Netflix (Chambers) w a heating pad on my belly and just chilled.
When I thought back to our lunch meal I was sooo excited to hit Prasad again. But I remembered that the lettuce tasted a bit off. I wolfed it down out of sheer hunger but should’ve asked for something else. Now I will. Food poisoning can happen with cooked OR raw foods like a salad. I’ve been violently ill from meat + fish, veggie curry but a salad is the first for me. But happens especially at big food bars like Whole Foods.
Lesson: listen to your gut AND tongue. If something is off or doesn’t taste right, send it back. Better than dealing with food borne illness!
