Last weeks posts consisted of a lot of explosive “flare.” They look really good and can provide a ton of benefit for the right athletes and people who’ve been properly strength and movement trained. But you need to properly build up to those levels or you’ll end up risking your safety.

Today I’d like to highlight where I believe everyone should start and master when beginning a jump or plyometric program, and that’s ABSORBING FORCE. What goes up must come down 🤷‍♂️ - Not only that, but the better rate at which you can accept force, the more explosive you will be in and out of cuts, changes of direction, and yes, JUMPING.

Now, I have to put up another disclaimer because the “#offsetboxdrop shown here is an advanced absorption drop that should only be done after traditional box drop drills have been mastered.
Once you have mastered the basics, this drill is tremendous in challenging the entire musculature from lower body mechanics, to core control (the force of the weight caused by gravity will pull you into a lateral bend if you’re not strong. I like this drill because it will turn on your core control quickly in an attempt to maintain posture). You can even see me semi-struggling with a 13 kilo 🔔 on a 18” box to maintain lower body position. This is a good training point for me to get better.

This is an advanced drill for absorption but not too strenuous on the body like a “shock” type drill would be, so you can get away with a little more volume. My recommendations, however, are to keep the volume low to moderate and use as a preparatory drill before other type of explosive movements or lifts. Get in, get out, and move on. If you’re doing this drill you’re probably pretty advanced anyway and should spend the majority of your time in other areas.

This is the crap that is fed to people online. This popped up on my Facebook feed. Sad thing is there are probably people that at trying this or tried this. Now in all actuality someone may lose 24lbs in the 2 weeks cool right??? NOPE!!!!! On the 3rd week when you introduce some resemblance of a normal balance diet all 24 lbs +5 extra lbs because all you did was deplete yourself and slow down your metabolism

Before falling for a fad diet or a fad program speak to someone on why something is good or not. If something is sustainable long term or not.
Getting fit or in better shape is a lifestyle and will never be a quick fix. Treat your body right
