National Geographic Your Shot

Ocean Feast | Photograph by Mathieu Simonet (@matsimonet)

#YourShotPhotographer Mathieu Simonet made this image of gannets feeding on sardines in the Indian Ocean. “[This] moment, far from the South African cost, was very impressive.”

“Wow. This must have been an amazing scene to witness; I love how wide you shot this image, revealing the number of birds in the area feeding on sardines. I love how some birds are circling above, other are diving, and more are feeding. There is wonderful energy to this frame. I can feel it. Well done Mathieu.” — @natgeoyourshot Producer David Y. Lee (@davidylee)

Fantastic. Congratulations 🙋

@mriverab

@matsimonet There will be more migration events to cover, and opportunities to use a built-in video camera to capture the gannets’ dive-bombing :D. Would love to watch/ hear! In the meantime, enjoy ‘playing’ when performing your superb work✨ - the hard work involved is evident🌟.

@mriverab Thank you very much for all your lovely and kind comments Marta 💫 Very touched by your enthousiasm regarding my work 😃✌️I was very lucky to watch a couple of times this unbelievable wild natural show in the south african coast✨ One thing that my camera lens couldn’t print was the impressive sound of the impact of these cape gannets on the ocean! It sounded like a tridimensionnal show 🌟🌟🌟
