⭐️Innovation⭐️ >> Meet Powerhouse 🏠
.
Powerhouse is a partnership which aims to develop energy positive buildings which are available to buyers at market rates and commercially viable to developers. .
An energy positive building is one which produces more energy than it consumes over its lifetime, including the manufacture, design and construction phases. .
And it doesn’t just save energy, it produces it too!
.
⚡️⚡️⚡️
.
This is a big deal for two reasons: firstly, buildings make up 40% of the world’s energy consumption. .
Secondly, the EU has decided that from 2020 all new buildings have to be near zero energy, so the supply of such buildings will become hugely important in the EU (and hopefully 🇬🇧 too 🙊). .
There are a few Powerhouses popping up around Norway already. Our favourite (see image) is a new secondary school, opening next year, which has one wall entirely covered in solar panels. The panels are angled towards the daytime sun and provide the majority of the energy. It also has a geothermal well beneath it. .
☀️☀️☀️
.
If these innovations work in Norway there’s no telling what they can achieve in southern climes where solar power has a much greater potential. .
You could be living somewhere like this soon! 😍
