“A bike is the perfect way to see the world,” says photographer Jered Gruber (@jeredgruber), whose love for cycling has taken him around the world to document bike races and riders. “During a race, I’ll try to find the prettiest spot. So I make the scene, and then the race happens within it. But getting the photos are difficult — there’s so much going on and so little time to think. You don’t get another try.”
Recently, Jered headed to Italy for La Maratona dles Dolomites, an 86-mile (138-kilometer) race with 13,878 feet (4,230 meters) of climbing through the country’s northeastern mountain range. In his photos from the race, he tried to capture the feeling he himself gets on a bike: “That moment of, ‘This is incredible, and I can’t think of any place I’d rather be.’” 🚵‍♂️
Today on our story: head out for a ride with Jered at La Maratona.
