Photo by Sara Hylton @sarahyltonphoto | Venkatesh Appala grows bell peppers in Laxmapur village in Telangana state, India. He started his greenhouse operation in January 2017 and estimates a profit of 46,000 rupees (just over $700) in his first year. He's using the extra income to save for his daughter's dowry, which can run up to $10,000. A community of farmers, including Appala, has started using small greenhouse technology developed by the organization Kheyti to adapt to climate change, which protects crops and relies on 90 percent less water. Photo by @CristinaMittermeier | Off the coast of Brazil in the emerald waters of the Abrolhos Reef, the southernmost reef in the Americas, a traditional spear fisherman focuses on the fish below him awaiting the opportune moment to free dive down. Once protected as a Marine reserve, the new government of Brazil has ordered that the protections be removed to allow oil exploration. Needless to say, an oil spill would be devastating to the unique ecosystem. #FollowMe at @CristinaMittermeier for more stories and photos from around the world. #Brazil #fisherman #conservation

"The white Camargue horses of France are the epitome of beauty and grace. Being so close to them on this day was scary but exhilarating," says #YourShotPhotographer Scott Stulberg. "Your mind says to move but your adrenaline says to stay. I stayed in place and it paid off with a moment to remember."

Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPplanetearth
Earth Day is just around the corner, so this weekend the challenge is to capture our home planet through your lens. For inspiration, check out the featured image by Patrick Monatsberger (@moners). Here are some tips to get started:
🌏 Explore the world. Climb a mountain — or a majestic tree in your own backyard. Whether big or small, find a landscape that shows what our planet has to offer.
🌍 Meet your neighbors. Keep an eye out for Earth’s inhabitants – human and animal alike. Whether it’s your lifelong fluffy friend or a ladybug you just met.
🌎 Bright mornings, sunsets and night stars. Think of how the time of day and time of year might play a role.
PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPplanetearth hashtag only to photos and videos shared over this weekend and only submit your own visuals to the project. By adding the #WHPplanetearth hashtag, you consent to and grant Instagram all rights to repost your photo or video. If you include music in your video submissions, please only use music to which you own the rights. Any tagged photo or video shared over the weekend with the #WHPplanetearth hashtag is eligible for the project and, if selected, to be featured next week.
