Thanksgiving Tradition | Photograph by Benjamin Jordan (@pillowlava1)
“Boy Scout Troops in our community hold an annual fundraiser that involves cooking Thanksgiving holiday turkeys in a traditional Hawaiian Imu, or a ground oven,” writes Your Shot photographer Benjamin Jordan. “The boys work several hours: cutting banana stalks and leaves, digging out the pit, and building a bonfire to heat rocks from local streams. The turkeys, wrapped in aluminum foil, are steamed overnight in the ground — and the meat literally fall off the bone.”

“Great job using the available light, and taking advantage of the steam to make a moody and beautiful frame documenting a fantastic community tradition. Well done Benjamin.” — @natgeoyourshot Producer David Y. Lee (@davidylee) #HappyThanksgiving #YourShotPhotographer

photo by @andrea_frazzetta // The Potala Palace. Buddhist monks and worshippers come to Lhasa from all over Tibet in order to pray at this major sacred site.
The Potala, winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the 7th century, symbolizes Tibetan Buddhism and its central role in the traditional administration of Tibet. The complex, comprising the White and Red Palaces with their ancillary buildings, is built on Red Mountain in the centre of Lhasa Valley, at an altitude of 3,700m.
