(Left) three days after surgery, (top right) one week after surgery (bottom right) 6 weeks after surgery !
Oh how I love modern technology. What caused years of pain, tears, and agony was gone in 35 minutes . Now it's been 6 weeks of being pain free and I still get teary eyed thinking about how grateful I am for my amazing surgeon who brought me this new life !

Sometime you'll have to give me your cell # and I'll send you her X-rays. You'd totally be able to read it haha and see if it's anything like you or Kirstie's. You are right though, they said to wait to do anything until she's done growing that will be along wait, according to her growth plates. She's still pretty active, so it's ok, but we just play the pain management game.(I'd love to see you're xray from before and after the surgery sometime too)
@heatheralew If They had done that I would have been in a straight let brace for 4-8 weeks along with therapy . But i would wait until she is older and done growing . That's what they recommended . The bone could adjust itself as she grows and she might not have any more pain
@heatheralew oh it's worth it ! I should have done it along time ago . It really just depends on where the bone sits in the tendon which determines how they go into the knee. Kirstie was harder to get to. If they go horizontal they have to go against the tendon so it requires more time down
You'll have to let me know how you do with recovery and if you think it's worth it! 6 weeks pain free sounds so great!! I'm glad to know there's a solution.
@heatheralew I Was Supposed To Be In A Full brace for 6-8 weeks but the bone was so close to the surface that i didn't need it .
@heatheralew kirstie made it until 14 I think and we both have had it since we were little . I was originally going to get surgery 4 years ago but chickened out . Ha
My little Laura has that on both knees. 11yrs old! The pain is soooo bad for her. I'm happy your surgery went so well. How long did you try and just live with it?
