The freedom to sleep anywhere. Light enough to carry everywhere. This 21 ounce magic shelter has saved my bacon in the wickedest storms you could imagine in Grand Canyon. Thanks @hyperlite_mountain_gear !
@pedromcbride and I dodged lightning bolts in Western Grand Canyon the other night while my camera screamed vacuuming every last photon it could out of the dark abyss.
This is a composite of about 20 shots. Huge thanks to my buddy @danransomphoto for guidance on how to create a composite image. Look up "Grand Monsoon" on Dan's website and you'll see the crazy coolest lightning shot ever done in Grand Canyon.
Big cavern, little boats. Packrafting the Grand past Redwall Cavern on day two of a self supported packraft trip. Secret weapon: paddling the Alpacka Gnarwahl pre production. Day'em! Confidence inspiring in the big stuff!
Since I through hiked Grand Canyon last Fall, I've been asked dozens of times what it was like. I've always found it difficult to describe the juxtaposition of incredible difficulty and stunning beauty. I've leaned on my photos to help tell the story and this one in particular sums it up nicely. Just thread your way through there! Ok - if you really want to know what it was like listen to Kevin Fedarko & Peter McBride articulate the challenge in a way I never could. The Dirtbag Diaries went live this morning here:
