November Art Class. This month in art, our young artists learn about Alexander Calder through sculpture and art that moves, our big kids will be building art portfolios, illustrators will learn to “see” to become designers, and our ceramicists will learn how to create larger works of art. . I wish there would have been an art studio like ours when I was growing up. I may have thought I was good at art from a young age. . True story, it wasn’t until college that I learned how to make art. I never thought I was “good” at art and never dared to pick up a pencil to draw. . My passion for teaching traditional art techniques to our youngest students is derived from my frustration as a young child. Followed by my passion for process art, a great way to have children learn to use their voice through art making, love the play in art, and celebrating diversity to embrace our differences. Traditional art technique and process art making compliment each other very well! . . . . #potteryclass#marin#artclassforkids#artstudio#ceramicstudio#artprocess#processart#wheelthrowing#lovewhatyoudo#preschoolartclass#teenartclass#afterschoolclasses#art_craft#arttechniques#arteducation#artmatters#artteacher
Making Memories. I am a sucker for embracing moments in time and these hand and foot prints are my favorite way of stopping time, if only for a moment. . Come in during dropin, or make an appointment, or place a special order where we do everything (except the prints 😉), many options. Make ornaments with just one print, make a plaque like this that also has a place for a photo, or create one with more than one child’s print. . I make one every year and my son is now 11. It’s just the perfect way to “see” him each year, and yes we use a lot more clay now 😂. . The holiday season is here! Make one for grandparents, aunties, uncles, but especially a gift to yourself.
Moments in time. Sometimes you realize the beauty that surrounds you, but when you see it through a lens it’s more magical than you remember. Revisiting this beautiful evening with food prepared by my sister (from another mister) chef @remaloney, celebrating a friend that inspires me, surrounded by people who use their days on this planet for positive change. . Please swipe to get a visual of the food! . P.s. Making the ceramic tumblers for this festivity has inspired me to create my own set of dishes...and setting up my garage for an at home studio as I type. 🙌🏼 Super excited! . . . . #dinnerware#handmadeceramics#tablefor30#dinnerparty#lotsoflove❤️ #rachelmaloney#kebbymcinroy#potter#artteacher#whennotteaching#sananselmo
