Isometric holds build both strength and muscle mass. It's been used for centuries by the Shaolin monks, and I would think someone who could do a one finger handstand to know a thing or two about building stength.
Here, I'm doing a hold while pushing up against the table. This tenses the quads and the core.
Hold until you feel the burn, then hold some more until failure. Pretty much describes my career.
Wall Squat Hip Thrust, a workout for the quads. Start with a proper horse stance, with thighs parallel to the ground, and toes pointing in the same direction as the knees. Push against the wall with your upper backand thrust hips as far forward as you can. This overloads the quad muscles.
