"I've found that we are all part of many different communities over our lifetimes and they are always changing. Our family is our first community and for many of us the most constant. But over time, family members change. People die. People marry in and new people are born. Before you know it, it’s a new community. As we find new interests, we find people who appreciate the same things. When I first started food blogging, there was a very strong food blogger community, where we not only interacted online, but in person for fun food blogger events as well. It was great never having to explain why I wanted to photograph my food! Also, some communities we don’t necessarily choose, but depending on where life takes us, we seek a support system of people who have been there before. When my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, she found a community of survivors who helped her through a difficult time and she continues to participate in that community. "
