Project « Yakutsk »
I spent three months in The Sakha Republic, also called Yakutia is a Federal Russian Republic located in North-East Siberia. The capital city, Yakutsk, is the coldest city in the world, with temperatures in January often dropping below -50°C. It is the largest city built on permafrost, which means the subsoil is permanently frozen.
The idea behind this project is to study the living conditions of its inhabitants to show how these populations are able to adapt to conditions among the most extreme on Earth. I have monitored their daily life, the energy of the people there, to magnify all of it in pictures for a better understanding of what an everyday life looks like in such conditions.
