Congratulations to #alattles on his induction to the @hoophall ! Had the great pleasure to be around Al for several years and just the nicest person you could ever meet. Al shown here with a couple of other legends. #billrussell#jerrywest I think you could have won a few championships with a team based on these 3 . #19hoopclass
Had a great time at the @hoophall Enshrinement ceremony. Always great to reunite with with my brothers and sisters and welcome new inductees. Thank you to Fran and her team at the Hall of Fame for taking such good care of us ALWAYS. Honored to be apart of this special family. Congrats to the class of 2019! Do yourself a favor and look up @tspoon_11 speech. #19hoopclass#HOF
#Repost@nyknicks • • • • • • The @hoophall welcomes another Knicks legend in the late Carl Braun. A premier guard in the 40s and 50s, Braun ranks all-time in franchise history: 5th in points, 4th in assists, and 4th in games played. #19HoopClass#NewYorkForever
Congrats to the #19hoopclass as they head for induction tonight into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield.
This coming year we ask all of you for your continued support & urge you to help help however you can with Leo's long overdue @Hoophall enshrinement.
THINK ABOUT THIS FOR A SECOND. Leo Ferris was: • Shotclock co-creator • NBA Co-founder • Inaugural NBA Board of Governors • Helped intergrate pro basketball • Built Nats Championship team • Atlanta Hawks franchise founder ...and he isn't in the Naismith Hall of fame.
2019 is the 70th anniversary of the NBA & the 65th anniversary of the implementation of the 24 second shotclock. Please help us get the word out this year in support of Leo Ferris' @Hoophall enshrinement campaign.
"Ferris is the guy who made the B.A.A. solons sit up and holler uncle....I wasn't selling the NBL short while that guy Ferris was on the loose...Ferris started to throw his weight around in a serious sort of was about six months ago. He had set the pattern for a finish fight and started to put together the pieces." Matt Jackson - Rochester Times-Union, Aug. 20, 1949
70 Years ago TODAY representatives of the National Basketball League & Basketball Association of America, shake hands after agreeing to a merger of the two circuits to be known as the National Basketball Association on Aug. 3, 1949, in NYC.
"Ferris is no ordinary promoter. He is a tireless, 24 - hour -a- day dynamo who functions best under fire. He is a great guy to have on your side in any kind of a fight. He will prove a big help to his new associates in the amalgamated association (NBA) --- and they know it." MATT JACKSON, SPORTS CHRONICLE. ROCHESTER-TIMES UNION. Aug.1949
Had the FASTEST TRIPLE-DOUBLE IN NBA HISTORY: One of Leo Ferris' final moves as general manager of the Syracuse Nationals was singing Jim Tucker out of Duquesne University in 1954. Months later that same season, Jim Tucker and teammate Earl Lloyd became the FIRST 2 African-Americans to play on an NBA championship team for the Nationals.
