Se alguém falar que o AEJ vai te matar, que você vai passar mal e não deve fazer, sem dúvidas isso é um equívoco dos grandes. Quando bem controlado o AEJ é uma ótima estratégia de direcionamento metabólico/energético para amplificação da oxidação da gordura e aumento da sensibilidade insulínica, algo fundamental para melhora da capacidade muscular em metabolizar substratos lipídicos e aumentar a eficiência de enzimas mitocondriais e sua devida biogênese. Algo fundamental no desempenho e na saúde.

Este estudo, publicado em março de 2010 nos mostra isso. O exercício aeróbio em jejum resulta no aumento da atividade da enzima AMPK e adaptações a níveis mitocondriais que impactam diretamente a expressão da proteína SIRT1.

Parece loucura essa bioquímica, mas deixa eu explicar quem são essas "SIRT's" 🔜 As SIRT's são sirtuínas, um conjunto de enzimas relacionadas com a ligação ou silenciamento de genes que têm a ver com a longevidade das células, e por conseguinte envolvidas na preservação dos tecidos do corpo, é bom de ver o valor de sua expressão para a medicina do exercício e o valor do exercício em sua ativação. Uma vez que, para aqueles que procuram preservação da saúde e redução do estágio de envelhecimento e morte celular, esse mecanismo é primordial.

Particularmente, as SIRT’s participam de um mecanismo de retroalimentação mantendo as células vivas mais tempo quando submetidas a situações do exercício e exercício em jejum. Uma coisa é certa, antes de criticar temos que entender. E por isso devemos saber quando aplicar, a ativação da AMPK acentuada, que se associa com a maior ativação da SIRT1 é dependente de um estado de baixo reserva de glicogênio (na situação do AEJ).

Sendo assim, não adianta AEJ para quem não mantém a glicemia normalizada e faz pico de insulina durante o dia.

AEJ é recomendado em dietas de baixo aporte de carboidrato e durante as primeiras horas do dia. Não é para todos e deve estar prescrito de acordo com a condição farmacológica, com os exames bioquímicos do sujeito, com a manipulação dietética e com as caract. antropomét.

Failed 240kg/529lb deadlift - right hand rubbing against thigh caused a loss of grip and a slow lockout. Strength is there, just need to adjust technique to stop the hand dragging - BW 88kg

I know I know, the gym rules are; if the spotter touches the bar then it doesn't count 🙄. But truth be told on that first rep it was all me, that second rep I can't even remember, considering I didn't even want to do the bloody second rep (again again) 🤣.

"Will heavy squats break your back?" Not if you squat, train, and rest properly.

Sounds obvious right? Here comes the science part to confirm the above isn't just being sensible.

Inside each vertebrae is softer bone, these won't fracture like a bone in our body, but microfractures occur instead, and like bones, they will harden and become stronger (called ossification).

So yes, don't be afraid to go heavier, if you are experiencing problems (and you don't have any pre existing conditions), ask yourself;

Is your form right? (This applies to Barbell Squats only, Smith Machine Squats are not the same, and are very situational, we wouldn't recommend you do them over a barbell if you can help it).

Are your squat sessions properly planned out to ensure a lesser likelihood of injury?

Is your back fully recovered before you go at it again? If it isn't, either scale the weight back, or wait until it is good to go.

Went to go for 115kg but was fatigued and lost it. But I'm happy with the weight and form much better then it was before. Now it's deload week before I go back to 12 week strength training.
