If you have been doing dumbbell chest exercises and want to move to the bench press, start with just the bar (20kg) to practice technique and then add some weight. You will be surprised how quickly you gain strength. I’m now comfortably using 32.5kg for 6 reps. •
Always use a weight that feels challenging, not just what you think you should be doing. As the weeks progress, if you feel stronger and think you can do more reps, increase the weight. It should always feel like an 8/10 for the rep range.
