I loved exploring Ayutthaya and her gorgeous temples. And although you are not alone on this adventure (unless you go really really early) it didn't feel crowded.

The Buddha head entwined in the roots of the tree.
There are different stories about how the head ended up entwined by the roots. But I believe during the invasion of the Burmese in the 18th century the Buddha statue got destroyed and lost his head. And because the temple was abandoned for a long time, roots started growing over the head of the Buddha.
It makes an interesting image don't you think? Have you seen it before?
