Dad your strength, courage, and selflessness inspired so many, but especially me. I have no idea how I am suppose to go on without you, but I know you want me to go on with a smile on my face like you always did. I will try to find the positive in the tough times to come, but I am going to need you, as my new guardian angel, to get me through them. I thank you for teaching me what love is, for giving me my goofy personality and for giving all of us your kindness, patience, and support everyday. I love you so much it hurts.
The experience of losing a loved one to cancer has taught me many life lessons that I want to share with others. #1: Don’t take life for granted. My Dad was lucky to live so much life in his years, but he had so much more that he wanted to do, see, and experience. I promise I will do this for you Dad. #2: I swear to god tell your loved ones that you love them everyday, you can never say or hear it too much. #3: Find a way to make your goals happen. So many times the odds were against my Dad, but his positivity never wavered and his determination to succeed kept him going. Through this, he inspired his nurses, doctors, and most of all his family #4: Say thank you. My Dad said thank you to everyone that helped him along the way, even for the simplest tasks. I know this didn’t go unnoticed, because he made everyone so feel appreciated for their time. #5: Cancer fucking sucks and is incredibly unfair. Be there for your family and friends when they are going through tough times and find a way to make their life easier without asking. True superheroes have come to all of us during this time and I want to thank everyone one for the love and support they have given us. Cheers to you Dad, I love you so much.
