1. Sooooooooooo once upon a yesterday I was on my computer and I came across an ad for a kill pen auction. As I was scrolling through all the ads, most of the horses looked abused with scratches and open wounds, but this boy stood out. He wasn’t like the rest of them it was like... he didn’t belong there or he wasn’t meant to be there.....buttttttttt yo boi Samantha likes cheap deals and his minimum bid was $50! And the auction wasn’t too far from TAPS so I sent my bidder application, packed up early and loaded Rúni into the 2 stall trailer I bought and we drove to the location of the kill pen.
When I got there, I jumped outta my truck and checked on Rúni who was sprawled out on the floor of the trailer snoring, asleep, and exhausted from TAPS. I gotta admit she was a bit adorable in her un-natural way of sleeping but she was probably gonna be interrupted later when I get the stallion in there, she was NOT gonna be happy. I jumped off the side of the trailer and scanned my surroundings, there was loads of horses each in pens ranging of 1-5, most of the horses were very wounded and looked very dehydrated and starved. I wish I could’ve rescued them all but I haven’t moved to my new ranch yet and I wouldn’t be able to cover all those expenses...
I finally got to the pen where the stallion I wanted was held by himself, he was laying in the dry dusty dirt of the pen sadly glancing around at the horses in the pen beside his, he got to know them couple days they were there, they wouldn’t be here long, they were either going to be adopted or have a slow painful death. His pitiful gaze rested then rested on a mare, she was laying on the ground with a giant gash on her head, unconscious, his gaze slowly drifted to me, his river-blue eyes met my dark brown eyes, as if staring into my soul, a silent plea for help, he didn’t want to end up like that mare.
I had a good 15 minutes left before the auction started. I left the pen and made my way to the bidder tickets, the stallion’s gaze still lingered on me as I left. I was the first of the line in the last few who needed bidder signs, “Samantha Silvers”
