중학교 때 ‘singing in the rain’를 따라한 날이 생각났다.

Photo by @FransLanting Look at this black rhino calf—frisky and curious, ears pointing my way as I watch its mother laboriously raising herself. Only one of her ears is pointing in my direction. The other one is checking what is happening behind her. Rhinos rely on their sharp sense of hearing and an acute sense of smell to make up for not seeing very well. In Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater, they’re relatively protected, but that is not the case for most rhinos elsewhere in Africa and Asia. They’ve been hammered by poachers, and it’s more important than ever to draw attention to their plight, and to the people and organizations that are trying to turn things around, including the World Wildlife Fund, Save the Rhino, and WildAid. Help them help rhinos survive and spread the word on September 22 which is World Rhino Day. Follow me @FransLanting for more images of rhinos and other endangered wildlife.

On this #worldrhinoday I'm remembering Maxwell, the sweet, blind rhino living at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. I was fortunate enough to share a quiet moment with him just before foster parent visiting hours ended. I will never forget the gentleness of his presence or how inspired I was by the extraordinary dedication of the people working there. Truly one of the most incredible days of my life 💓•

Repost @natgeo
