The cannula hates me.
Does anyone else struggle with these ?
Apparently I inherited thin veins. Chemo thins them even more and hardens them.
It took an hour and 3 different members of staff and 3 goes before we managed to get a line in upon admittance to A&E. Then after the blood cultures and one vial it blew meaning we had to start again.
This next line took a further 20 mins and lasted until I was being discharged just. They gave me one last injection of antibiotics and almost at the end we realised it wasn't going in it was pooling in my wrist under the skin. Vein blow!! If I had to stay we would have to have tried putting another one in and well that would not have not have been fun.
No idea what they do when they reach the point where you can't easily get a cannula in.
I did get asked why they hadn't considered a permanent line but really I think the answer is at the start it wasn't needed and by the time we got to this point it's too late really.
I know it isn’t easy
Definitely not convenient
Not very fun
BUT... continued plastic use is ruining our world. Seriously... doing the right thing is rarely the easy, convenient, fun thing... I’m sooooo happy to see people and businesses talking more about plastic and its horribleness AND most importantly taking action to create change and eliminate more plastic contribution. No more straws Totally great, and that’s coming from a person (me ♀️) who despises stuff (cold or hot) hitting her teeth So I opt for stainless steel. We are each responsible for our own choices. Choose to be a part of this solution vs the problem. If you’re an iced coffee drinker, going through that drive thru daily+, is there another way? Get out, bring your sustainable cup inside, smile at some people, maybe strike up some convo and then rock your own sustainable straw. Multiply your habit by a million+ people and try to grasp that you can contribute to this change. Your choice totally matters. Willing to try? .
Everyone has their own struggles and are on their own journey. As a coach its important to understand that and to listen. ***
Some of my struggles are:
PCOS and Infertility
A son with Autism ***
Life is hard and we all have trails we have to deal with on a daily basis. But, I have found a way to help deal with my daily trails and struggles through healthy eating and working out. It all starts with me. I need to take care of me first and if I do the better wife and mother I can be to my family. ***
What are your daily struggles and trails? Maybe I can help, by sharing what has worked for me. Message me and let's get to know each other better.

This was the reality of our vacation last week. I’m sure many autism parents can relate. We went on our first vacation in about 4 years to gatlinburg. We got a cabin in the mountains and it was beautiful. But many outings were spent taking turns with Charlie, staying back at the cabin with her, driving her around in the car while the boys did fun activities. While I hope this isn’t our life forever the harsh reality is it very well could be. Only autism parents will understand the sort of grieving process that comes along with raising an autistic child. The what if’s. What if they never really speak? Sure she says words and can communicate some things but a lot of it is what they call “scripting”, simply repeating things they hear. What if she can never act her age and is perpetually stuck in that 2 year old stage of tantrums ? What if she can never really participate in activities that are age appropriate bc she simply can’t Handle the situation, commotion, so she acts crazy and throws her self on the ground because she doesn’t know what else to do at that moment? Only time will tell but the waiting is hard. #autimsawareness#asd#autismmom
