#MH_STORIES / HOW I FOUND MY PASSION ↓
people often ask me how I first became interested in photography or videography.
It started in my back yard playing soccer.
I would set my web cam up, and tried to stage photos of me doing a bicycle kick like the pro players I watched every weekend.
My passion wasn’t clear at that time, but I have always loved media and technology.
I definitely have those files on a private channel somewhere.
I even “vlogged” way back before I even knew it was a thing. It was back in 2012, when I moved back to NYC.
I had to work full time when I first moved back, and in my free time I would play soccer in different parks and record myself.
When people asked me what I wanted to do in life I replied, “I don’t know”. At first the thought of my future stopped there, and i trudged to and from my freshman college classes like a mindless zombie.
I soon learned that it was my responsibility to find what I was best at and pursue it.
This only amplified when I found YouTubers like @caseyneistat who helped me zone in to my passion of storytelling.
I had to take what I was learning in college, and then research ways to lay the foundation to my goal.
My goal is to tell stories for a living, and now that I had finally found it, there would be no stopping me.
That’s what I told myself when I got discouraged, and when my old MacBook would crash.
But then again it had 2GB of RAM.
Oh goodness that was a nightmare, but at least it got the job done.
Today when I when I sit in front of @lightroom or final cut, I shake with excitement.
I’m doing what I have always loved, but just did not know it yet.
I want you to ask yourself, if you are doing enough to find what you are best at.
You need a goal to realize the process.
Then you need the patience to get through the process.
There will be many ups and downs.
All you have to do is get started.
Thank you @mrhollender for this amazing photo of me!
