👷🏻♂️DANGER’S OF AN ACTIVE JOB👷🏽♀️
You hear it many times ‘but I’m active at work so I get my fitness work in then’..... 🤔 ..... welcome to the PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PARADOX.
📌 The physical activity paradox is based on the notion that just because you are doing physical activity, it does not mean it is good for you.
📌 the study here showed that those who have active jobs, such as those in construction, etc.... are more likely to have higher risks of mortality as a result of their jobs.
📚 the research showed that working 8 hours a day with your heart rate above that of ‘normal’ increased your risk of cardio-respiratory disease. Jobs involving heavy, static lifting have been shown to increase blood pressure and usually don’t allow sufficient recovery time.
📌 so why is it then that normal physical activity is fine? ✅ - you are in control of the duration
✅ - you control the intensity
✅ - there is usually sufficient recovery times between exercise
✅ - your heart rate is elevated to a level which aids cardio-respiratory development. .
