Because these bears live in tropical regions, their food supply around the year isn't at all short.
Which means that these bears don't Hibernate.
Well not entirely true, they hibernate and they don't hibernate.
Male Sun Bears don't hibernate. Because they don't need to. The only reason why bears hibernate is because the low food supply in winter.
These bears aren't low on food in any season of the year. So the male sun bears don't Hibernate.
But female sun bears on the other hand, in order to avoid conflict when they have cubs with them, hibernate.
Unlike brown bears that Hibernate in caves, sun bears hibernate in fallen logs, standing trees and in tree branches high above the ground.
Their big powerful jaws strong enough to break wood, makes it easier for them to build their tree den.
In the wild, they usually search for food at day time. But are known to look for food in a short period of time at night if necessary.
However when they are under captivity, be it Zoo or Conservation efforts to save these creatures. They avoid Human Interaction and sleep during the day.
But they are known to be very vicious and dangerous in the forrest if they get surprised.
Much like Brown Bears, they don't like surprises.
And might charge at you to deliver a nasty bite.
So be careful.
