I am going to post pictures at the exact time they were taken (EST). I just want to show the importance of timing in making photographs.
Today we have a photograph from 10:53 PM.
In this single photograph, you can see the milky way galaxy as it is being smothered by an incoming freak storm. The wind was so strong, I needed to enter the tent soon after this photograph so that my weight would keep it from flying away.
The next day, we completed one of the hardest hikes of the trip. On this hike we saw a band of pensioners (estimated 60-85 years old). I was stunned that not only were they attempting the hike, but they were doing it extremely well without appearing to feel much difficulty.
I caught (not literally) one of them on the other side of a traverse and asked her politely her age. She said "74. And still feeling much younger, mind you." She also revealed that one of the hikers of their team was 83 years old.
I had little words to say. I was still processing the information as she slowly walked away, shouting over her shoulder, "Have a good hike!" A great reminder that age is only a number.
