The language we use may be true, but is it helpful?
Sacrifice. A word I have used often about motherhood, yet I am finding it isn’t serving me in this season.
Don’t get me wrong, I believe mothers sacrifice a great deal for their children. But when I use the word sacrifice it is often when I am weary and worn. One of my co-coaches helped me shift my verbiage, which is shifting my perspective. She suggested I use the word GIFT.
A gift comes from a place of desire. That one simple shift. A change of one word in my internal dialogue seems to be giving me the energy for one more...one more book, one more drink, one more...
After a week of teething and now a week of sickness, I am certainly worn out, but I am hanging on to the word gift.
It is amazing to me how simply changing one word can change my whole perspective. This is a tool I teach in my nutrition group, but it applies to so much more than our relationship with food!
