The $5,000 . While we were out of town wrestling pigs and making their hooves pretty @theminipigfarrier, upon arrival one Sunday evening in late March, Dobby was so excited to see us from the fence, he climbed it. Well, he caught his leg in chicken wire and broke it. All that money made over our business trip was spent the very next morning at the vet.
That vet ended up not setting the bones in his left leg, but casted Dobby anyway without telling us. We weren't made aware of this malpractice until a checkup at a new vet for a second opinion to get xrays and see the healing.
Because the length of time without healing, Dobby needed a bone graft and a plate put in his tiny leg. We were referred to a specialist 1.5 hours from our home and quoted $5,000 for the surgery alone. A balance we are still paying off. This Tuesday marks his 8th week post-surgery, where we will see how his leg has healed since dobby has been on strict recovery and crate rest.
This picture was taken almost 2 weeks ago, the day Dobby somehow slid his soft cast off his leg in the crate, and one day after just being at the vet for a checkup. A grumpy mom and dad had to drive him 1.5 hours south for a 10-minute cast re-wrap procedure.
We are excited to see the final xrays and get the so Dobby can get a bit more time to learn how to walk on all four legs again.
