Review: Possibly one of the most anticipated sequels of all time, Incredibles 2 had a lot of expectations and hype to live up to; and this was definitely Pixar's best sequel and one of its best movies. I love this movie. Incredibles 2 literally picks up seconds after the end of the first one and this time the primary focus is on Elastigirl who’s recruited by wealthy businessman Winston Deavor as a public image to make superheroes legal again which leaves Mr. Incredible at home to take care of the kids. In all of its sequels, Pixar switches the main characters around and I felt that this switch was well warranted. We get to see Mr. Incredible adjust to home life and Elastigirl in action; plus the reason given in the movie was well justified. All of the original voices (except for a Dash) return and it felt so nostalgic and welcoming to hear Nelson, Hunter and Jackson back as these classic characters. We also have Bob Odenkirk and Catherine Keener into the mix who were also fantastic. Over the years, animation has undoubtedly improved with today's technology but wow did this movie look amazing. From how pristine the actual animation looked to this movie's action sequences. The one that stood out in my mind was the train sequence with Elastigirl. The movie utilised her abilities according to the environment but also just how Brad Bird “directed” this sequence. It was intense and that music. If there was one praise I had throughout the movie it would be the fantastic score. Where this movie faltered for me was its villain. While I do understand their perspective, the movie doesn’t go that extra mile and I didn’t find them compelling, which was one of the reasons I loved Syndrome. Incredibles 2 was such a big surprise to me, because as much as I wanted this movie to be amazing, I didn’t expect it to ultimately succeed my expectations. I had a blast watching this movie and Brad Bird definitely has another hit on his hands with Incredibles 2.
