GET OUT, a satirical horror film about race relations starring British actor Daniel Kaluuya has grossed $75.9m at the box office against a budget of $4.5m.
According to IndieWire, this could end up reaching a $140 million or higher total before its through.
The film, which centres on a black man who discovers that his girlfriend’s liberal, lily-white hometown is guarding a sinister secret, marks a departure for writer and director Jordan Peele, who is best-known for his work on the Comedy Central series Key & Peele.
The low-budget film was the weekend’s top-grossing domestic release, earning $30.5 million, and propelling Peele atop Hollywood’s A-list.
