At the #WomenInLeadership Series, I very briefly shared on my mantra to always #BeTheLight—be it with work, family; with whatever and wherever—and to not add to the darkness quota of the world. It isn't easy to do this and it takes daily determination to develop this as a culture. It is important that we realise that every situation God has put us in is for a reason and He needs us to #BeTheLight there.
The 5 daughters of Zelophehad (Numbers 27) are stellar role models on the topic of breaking barriers. According to the Law in the Old Testament, they were not deemed as heirs to their Fathers’ possession and could not inherit land nor property. Rather than be defeated and accept barriers set for them, these sisters came together, and in wisdom, took their case before the elders and Moses. When they did so, Moses consulted God. And you know what God said? They were right! That’s how they changed the course of history FOREVER.
Women going before the elders was NOT done! They succeeded, however, because they were bold, focused and strategic in their approach. God gave them the right strategy to break the barrier faced! So, also, if we ask, He’d do the same (and more) for us. Whenever I am faced with situations that need barrier-breaking, I DECLARE and speak the WORD of God over myself. I remind myself that I am like the daughters of Zelophehad. I am bold, I am strong and I am unstoppable!
